Progress has been made to create cellular models for aging, both forAlzheimer’s disease (AD) and altered proteostasis. Results obtained indicate that the models are valuable and informative. AD models outcomes have been determined already with molecular detail. Altered proteostasis models have been set up in neuronal cell culture systems in which cells express super-physiological levels of neurotoxic proteins such as tau, TDP-43, and in cells treated with ALP and/or UPS inhibitors. These conditions were observed to cause loss of of cell viability, cell dysfunction or cell death.
