The general objective is to create a line of prevention and preventive follow-up in rheumatic patients. Rheumatic diseases per se and the resulting therapies create an increased risk of bone fracture and preventing them would be an important target to achieve. In this context it is therefore of fundamental importance design appropriate interventions for slowing down progression in frail older patients, taking into account relevant contextual correction factors. It is important implement proof of concept to assess the innovative multidisciplinary stratified care pathways, activate collaborations and bidirectional consultancy with hospitals and associations and policy makers at regional and national level
Brief description of the activities and of the intermediate results: Keep on recruiting of patients during ambulatory visits at the rheumatology department of Careggi Hospital of Florence. Preparation of a narrative review of both quantitative and qualitative in rheumatologic patients. Analysis of the data of EUSTAR and GISEA databases.
Main policy, industrial and scientific implications: Beginning of the systematic review on Measuring Digital Health Literacy among older adults.
Collection of data obtained through REMS (an innovative diagnostic technique for the study of bone density) on a sample of patients with arthritis; the preliminary data were analyzed and submitted with an abstract, which was accepted, to the national Rheumatology congress.
Purchase of an IT system for REMS. A collaboration with cardiologists has been initiated for the monitoring of cardiovascular risk factors in the studied patients
Continuation of the recruitment of patients during ambulatory visits at the Rheumatology department of UniFi. Analysis of the data of the EUSTAR and GISEA databases

Cardiac evaluation completed in all enrolled patients. Radiofrequency Echographic Multispectrometry (REMS) analysis has been included in the tests covered by the healthcare italian "ticket" (co-pay fee) for all patients.
Two experimental theses were performed with the data obtained in this project:
1. "Ruolo della Radiofrequency Echographic Multi Spectrometry (REMS) nella diagnosi di osteoporosi nei pazienti con artrite reumatoide";
2. "Osteoporosi e rischio cardiovascolare in pazienti con artrite reumatoide".
The project PNRR-Spoke3-PE8-AGE-IT- A novel public-private alliance to generate socioeconomic, biomedical and technological solutions for an inclusive italian ageing society -B83C22004800006 - Age-it Rheumatic diseases: relationship between chronic infammation and early ageing is ongoing in collaboration with Cardiologic Unit, University of Florence.
In July twenty-five patients with rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis underwent a cardiological examination and echocardiogram to assess cardiovascular risk factors. Cardiological assessments resumed in September and are still ongoing.
The purchase of the materials needed for microbiome analysis in patients enrolled in the study has been almost completed.
In July, the thesis entitled ‘Osteoporosis and cardiovascular risk in patients with rheumatoid arthritis’ was discussed, receiving the highest marks cum laude.
The specialisation thesis entitled ‘Role of Radiofrequency Echographic Multi Spectrometry (REMS) in the diagnosis of osteoporosis in patients with rheumatoid arthritis’ was discussed, receiving the highest marks cum laude.
In July, Serena Guiducci and Daniela Melchiorre presented preliminary data on the project at the AgeFlorence conference organised by the University of Florence.
