Leader: Guido Alessandri (Sapienza); Other collaborator(s):
The task is aimed to develop and evaluate a person-centered interventions to promote healthy lifestyles among atypical older workers (i.e., temporary contracts, unemployed), reduce maladjustment symptoms and promote self-esteem and work self-efficacy beliefs in atypical workers by reducing the impact of job insecurity and unemployment
Brief description of the activities and of the intermediate results
As part of the activities of Spoke 4 – Work Package 6, Task 6.3, Professor Guido Alessandri, full professor of work and organizational psychology, assisted by the work of dr. Filosa, assistant professor non-tenure track (RTD-A), carried out the following research activities:
- Purchase of tool for psychophysiological data collection. In particular, actigraphs were purchased, which are useful tools for monitoring a number of parameters related to sleep quality and the rate of movement during waking hours. In addition, cardiac biosensors were purchased, which represent useful tools for monitoring several cardiac activity parameters (i.e., heart rate, heart rate variability, etc.).
- Data gathering and wrangling. Specifically, different methodologies (i.e., intensive longitudinal, diary, and experience sampling methods) were implemented to collect different types of data (i.e., self- and otherreport psychological data, physiological data, etc.) during the past few months. After collection, data has been stored and is going to be prepared for analysis.
- Literature review about some key topics, relevant for the present task. A specific literature review has been conducted to prepare a meta-analysis on results available in literature about the topic of emotion regulation strategies at work and age differences among young and older workers.
- Writing and submitting scientific papers. Preparation, writing and submission of papers to be submitted to high impact scientific journals.
- Research team meetings. Weekly meetings took place, in-person or online, to prepare, manage, and organize shared research activities, as well as to provide timely updates on the activities carried out by each of the subgroups.
- Preparation of scientific products for dissemination of preliminary research results. In particular, interventions have been prepared for two important national conferences to be held in 2024.
In the past year, our research team conducted the following key activities to achieve our research goals: tools for psychophysiological data collection were purchased, including actigraphs for monitoring sleep quality and cardiac biosensors for tracking heart rate and variability; various methodologies, such as intensive longitudinal and experience sampling methods, were employed to collect psychological and physiological data, which is now being prepared for analysis; weekly research team meetings facilitated coordination and organization of shared activities, while scientific papers were written and submitted, and presentations were prepared for national conferences.
