- SHARE is a multidisciplinary, longitudinal sample survey of the population aged 50 years and older from 27 European countries and Israel. In addition to specific studies such as SHARE-Corona and SHARE-HACAP, the panel currently consists of seven regular waves (2004, 2006, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2019, 2021) and two retrospective waves (2008, 2017). The retrospective waves, known as SHARELIFE, provide data on the entire life cycle of respondents, from childhood to the year of the interview, measuring fertility and child characteristics, cohabitation and housing choices, education, socioeconomic and employment conditions, employment characteristics, income, disability benefits, health and health care status, and other general living conditions. Like all sample surveys based on voluntary participation, the study is subject to sampling and non-sampling errors. SHARE provides design weights to compensate for household differences in the probability of inclusion in the sample, calibrated weights to deal with nonresponse unit and attrition errors, and multiple imputations to deal with missing data due to nonresponse item errors. Weights are available for all panel waves, while imputations are available only for regular interviews. The purpose of the project is to impute missing data due to nonresponse item errors in SHARELIFE interviews from the years 2008 and 2017, i.e., those conducted in panel waves 3 and 7.
