Older caregivers often face significant challenges in providing care due to limited digital literacy and resources, hindering their access to essential online public services such as medical appointment scheduling and applications for care-related financial benefits. This study aims to identify the risks and opportunities that the digitalization of public services presents for the well-being of older caregivers through a scoping review and analysis of survey data from sources like SHARE, Multiscopo, and Eurobarometer.
Brief description of the activities and of the intermediate results:
From November 2023 to March 2024, Task 5 continued the preparation and expansion of a scoping review from the previous quarter. More precisely, the activity centred on the screening phase of the records involved in the scoping review, acquiring the ultimate collection of articles suitable for full-text reading. Task 5 participated in two workshops in which the ongoing work on the scoping review was presented ("Intergenerational Relatìons in Ageing Societies: Challenges for Familìes and Public Policy in Western and Asian societies", Bologna, November 2023; “Wellbeing e Inclusione Sociale Degli Anziani: Prospettive Teoriche, Questioni Metodologiche ed Evidenze Empiriche”, Lugano, December 2023). Task 5 organized a transpoke webseminar (together with D. Vignoli) in February 2024 presenting the ILQA-19 study that could be a useful research resource for many Age-IT researchers. Additionally, Task 5 participated in the workshop “Older adults in the digitalised society - Italy under the spotlights: the mission of Age-It” – Milano, February 2024.
