Following the design, production and implementation of the e-learning platform directed at caregivers and social assistants of patients with dementia, this task aims to unite the contributions of the different task to create an integrated and multidisciplinary care process.
Brief description of the activities and of the intermediate results:
There will be 4 phases of the project:
- the analysis of the training needs of informal and formal caregivers, as well as social assistants (I phase);
- the implementation of the training modules (Phase II);
- the testing of the training modules (Phase III);
- the adaptation and airing of the training modules (Phase IV).
Main policy, industrial and scientific implications
The aim is to provide a platform that can address the needs of different figures involved in dementia care.
Each task conducted a literature review regarding its topic of expertise, i.e., formal caregivers, informal caregivers, social service professionals and technological production. All these elements contribute to the development of an integrated and multidisciplinary care process.
Each task participated in the construction and revision of the lessons that will constitute the content of the platform, while contributions were presented at national and international conferences by different members of the WP.
Each task participated in the revision and refinement of the learning modules, in order to ensure their relevance, clarity, and alignment with the needs of formal and informal caregivers, family care assistant with a migration background and social service professionals.
Furthermore, members of each task started collaborating with the external company hired to design the e-learning platform. Meetings were held to review progress, provide feedback, and ensure that the design and development of the platform can be closely aligned with the needs identified in the co-design phase. This collaboration between researchers and the company ought to allow for the integration of user-centered features into the platform, with particular attention to user experience, usability, and functionality.
Furthermore, contributions continued to be presented at national and international conferences.
Notable progress were made in integrating the various contributions from the project to create a cohesive and multidisciplinary care process. The research team has continued refining the e-learning platform, ensuring that the training modules remain relevant, clear, and aligned with the needs of caregivers, social assistants, and healthcare professionals involved in dementia care.
Collaboration with the external company responsible for platform design has intensified, with ongoing meetings to review development progress and ensure the platform is tailored to user-centered principles. This partnership is crucial in integrating features that enhance user experience, accessibility, and functionality.
Furthermore, the team has presented findings at several national and international conferences, further disseminating the project’s outcomes.
Researchers finalised the textual materials derived from the learning modules, which now constitute the knowledge base of the chatbot. These materials were reviewed and adapted to ensure clarity, thematic coherence, and accessibility for all target users.
In parallel, researchers supervised the production process carried out by the selected technology company. Regular coordination meetings ensured continuous alignment between the technical implementation and the pedagogical objectives identified during the co-design phase.
A first demo version of the chatbot was completed and delivered. Researchers are currently conducting internal testing activities to assess the chatbot’s performance, with specific attention to the relevance, accuracy, and clarity of the responses provided. This testing phase aims to identify areas for refinement in preparation for a broader user evaluation.
Moreover, academic dissemination activities continued throughout the quarter. Members of the research team authored academic articles based on the methodological and empirical findings of the project and presented them at national and international conferences.
