Biosketch: Vincenzo Iannuzzi is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Laboratory of Molecular Anthropology at the University of Bologna. His research focuses on human longevity, aging, and the complex interplay between genetics, epigenetics, and human ecology. He began his academic journey at the University of Bologna, earning both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Statistical Sciences, where he developed expertise in computational genomics and survival analysis.
During his PhD in Earth, Life, and Environmental Sciences at the University of Bologna, Vincenzo conducted research on 'Evolutionary, ecological, and biodemographic analysis of human lifespan,' exploring topics in population genetics and molecular anthropology. He also applied epigenetic clocks—advanced tools for estimating biological aging based on DNA methylation patterns—to diverse human groups, shedding light on the influence of genetic and environmental factors on aging across various ecological and cultural contexts.
Vincenzo’s professional experience includes international research visits to renowned institutions such as the Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle (Paris) and the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (Paris), where he studied the genetics of aging. His contributions have been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Bourses du Gouvernement Français (BGF 2023) and the University of Bologna’s ISA Doctoral Prize 2023.
In addition to his research, Vincenzo actively participates in international conferences and collaborative projects, including the National AGE-IT Project, which focuses on promoting healthy aging. He has authored several peer-reviewed articles published in journals such as Ageing Research Reviews, Evolutionary Medicine and Public Health, and Geroscience.
