Biosketch: Alessio Faralli spent several years in the Neurobiology Laboratory of Brain Plasticity at the Neuroscience Institute Cavalieri-Ottolenghi (NICO) and the Rita Levi-Montalcini Department of Neuroscience at the University of Turin. There, he earned his master's degree in Psycho-Biology and subsequently completed his PhD in Experimental Neuroscience. His research primarily focuses on understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms that underpin the repair and adaptation of the central nervous system. He is particularly interested in exploring the role of the extracellular matrix in adult central nervous system plasticity, both under normal and pathological conditions. His work takes into consideration pharmacological and genomic factors, as well as interactions with external experiences. In collaboration with a network of neuroscience laboratories, Faralli is investigating non-invasive neuromodulation techniques, such as transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), to study their effects on brain function. Currently, Alessio Faralli is a research fellow at the Department of Experimental and Clinical Medicine at the University of Florence and he works at the Promise@Lab a joint laboratory between University of Florence and IRCCS Fondazione Don Gnocchi of Florence, on research projects about healthy ageing and adult stroke rehabilitation.
