Biosketch: Chiara Verbano is Associate Professor of “Innovation and Project Management” and “Engineering and Business Economics” at the Department of Management and Engineering of the University of Padova (UNIPD). After the degree in Management Engineering (ME) (1996, UNIPD), the PhD in ME (2000, UNIPD) and a postdoctoral fellowship in the field of technology transfer in Small and Medium Enterprises (2000, UNIPD), from 2001 to 2004, she was a permanent researcher in ME at the University of Parma.
Since 2004 she has been member of the Advisory Board of the PhD Programme in ME, in charge of the “Risk Management” seminar; from 2012 to 2018 she was vice coordinator of this PhD course. Now she is serving as Chair of the Engineering and Management Degree Courses Council (2013 – now). Since 1997 she has been member of AiIG (Italian ME Association). From 2006 to 2010 she was member of the “Centre of Studies and Activities for Space” (Univ. of Padova). In 2014, she was licensed to become Full Professor in ME (09-B3).
Her major research interests include Risk Management, healthcare innovation management, Lean and safety management in healthcare, and technology transfer. In these fields, she participated to research projects, funded by public and private organizations. She is Principal investigator for the University of Padova of the Spoke 5 “Providing care for an ageing population”, of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan -PE 8 “Ageing well in an ageing society” (Age-IT) (2023-2025).
She has participated in international research projects with the following institutions: School of Business of Haifa Univ. (Israel), National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (Japan), Univ. of San Marino (RSM), Public Univ. of Navarra (Spain), Univ. of Minho (Portugal), Univ. of the West of Scotland (UK). She is co-author of more than 140 scientific publications and has regularly contributed to international scientific Journals as a reviewer and in the editorial Board.
