Biosketch: Emanuela Sala is a full professor at the Department of Sociology and Social Research at the University of Milano-Bicocca, where she has been teaching various courses in Social Research Methodology since 2010. She returned to Italy through a direct call under the "Brain Drain" program after working at the University of Essex, UK, from 2003 to 2010. Her research interests include survey methodology and studies on older people's social inclusion in digitalised societies. In 2023, she served as Chair of the Local Organizing Committee for the European Survey Research Association Conference. For about 15 years, she was vice-president of Research Committee 33 (Logic and Methodology) of the International Sociological Association. She has published numerous scientific articles in leading international journals, including Ageing and Society, Social Science Computer Review, International Journal of Public Opinion Research, and Field Methods. She is a co-founder of the Ageing Societies research group and has received several grants, both at the national level (PRIN, Fondazione Cariplo) and international level (Economic and Social Research Council in the UK). Additionally, she is a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Social Research Methodology and Data and Methods journals.
