Biosketch: Paolo Matteini has been a research director at the Institute of Applied Physics of the CNR since 2021 where he carries out research and management activities in the field of optical spectroscopies for the development of novel biomedical diagnosis methods and agrifood applications. His research interests in the biomedial field include: 1) biophotonic technologies for diagnostics and therapy, including advanced microscopy techniques (Confocal Fluorescence, Raman, AFM); 2) Raman techniques (Raman spectroscopy, SERS) for the diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases and monitoring of altered health states; 3) Functional nanomaterials (gold and silver nanoparticles, graphene, biopolymers) that can be activated with laser radiation for applications to nanomedicine (tumor theranostics and neurodegenerative diseases, drug release); 4) Optical and spectroscopic sensors for the control of laser-biological material interactions. He has been scientific Coordinator of several European and national projects on development of novel strategies based on optical sensing of ageing-related diseases and co-authored more than 150 publications in international journals, scientific books and international proceedings.
