An aging society faces several challenges to foster and maintain just relations among its citizens. It sharpens the predictable divide between the interests of senior citizens and younger generations, which increases in both intensity as well as the number of affected individuals. Such worrying developments affect not only the current justice of our societies, but also their future political stability. A theory of justice is needed to devise fair social relations between generations. An account of justice across citizens’ life span is in order to overcome the divide between senior and younger citizens. This perspective implies: a) ruling out disrespectful practices towards senior citizens, b) overcoming their vulnerability, c) ensuring fair opportunities for younger generations; d) designing inclusive and responsive political institutions. Normative evaluations and operative prescriptions that ease the tension between senior citizens and younger generations is the expected outcome.
