Biosketch: Alessandra Macciotta is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Translational Medicine of the University of Eastern Piedmont (UNIUPO). She holds a Master’s Degree in Biostatistics from the University of Milan-Bicocca (UNIMIB), a second-level Master’s degree in Medical Statistics and Genomics from the University of Pavia (UNIPV), and a PhD in Biomedical Science and Oncology from the University of Turin (UNITO). She spent two years at the National Institute of Cancer (INT) in Milan as a research fellow, investigating molecular biomarkers in breast and colorectal carcinoma.
She is part of the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) study, where she primarily explored the social determinants and the trajectories through which they differentially impact the development of chronic diseases, such as type 2 diabetes and cancer, using various methodologies, including Mendelian randomization and mediation analyses.
Currently, she is involved in the Age-IT project ""Ageing Well in an Ageing Society,"" funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). Her current research focuses on the epidemiology of aging in health, with a specific emphasis on social, molecular, and preventive aspects.
