Biosketch: Emma Capulli is a research fellow at the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences at the University of Bologna within the research programme Age-It (Ageing Well in an Ageing Society). Her main areas of research are philosophy of law, biolaw and bioethics. She graduated cum laude at the Faculty of Law of the University of Bologna in 2018, completing a thesis on surrogacy in Latin America after a research period in Argentina. She obtained a PhD in Clinical and Experimental Medicine and Medical Humanities at the University of Insubria, with a thesis on bioethical and regulatory aspects of surrogacy, delving into issues surrounding sexual and reproductive rights, their intersections with family law, and the relationship between technology and reproduction. In 2022 she has been a visiting researcher at the Observatorio de Bioética y Derecho at the University of Barcelona. She is honorary fellow in Bioethics and Legal Medicine at the University of Bologna.Within the research programme Age-It her main research interests centre on the ethical and legal implications related to wearable devices. Specifically, regarding the themes of privacy and personal data protection within healthcare contexts, also with respect to the compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
