Biosketch: Greta Falavigna is a research director at the Research Institute on Sustainable Economic Growth of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR-IRCrES) in Turin (TO). After graduating in Economics from the University of Eastern Piedmont, she obtained a PhD in Economics and Technology Management from the University of Bergamo, and a bachelor degree in Literature from the University of Eastern Piedmont. Her research activity is mainly focused on the application of econometric and artificial intelligence models to various industrial and institutional contexts. She is a member of the Society for Industrial Economics and Policy (SIEPI) and the European Sociological Association (ESA). Since 2017/2018 she has been an adjunct professor at the Polytechnic University of Turin for the course of Political Economics (Industrial Production Engineering degree) and since 2008/2009 she has been collaborating on the course of Economics and Business Organisation (Mechanical Engineering degree). Since the end of 2022 she has held the position of Technical and Scientific Expert Evaluator for CNR in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. She is associate editor of the Journal of Public Affairs and she has obtained the scientific-national qualifications (ASN) in the following competition sectors: 13/A2 (Economic Policy, full professor); 13/A4 (Applied Economics, full and associate professor); 13/A3 (Finance Science, associate professor). Since 2003, she has been frequently involved in defining and applying deep learning models for risk stratification and decision support in the clinical domain. In addition, models based on artificial neural networks have been used to improve the administrative management of hospital stays through the optimization of admission days and minimization of expenditure on healthcare facilities. Finally, non-parametric models were used to evaluate the service of community nurses in the Piedmont region, specifically in the case of hip fractures in elderly patients. She participated in numerous research projects, including VIP-Moving, (Evaluation of Prevention Incentives. Evaluative Models on the Impact Generated by ISI Calls) funded by BRIC- INAIL 2019, in which she studied the topic of injuries and developed artificial intelligence models for the identification/prediction of the characteristics of companies striving for participating in ISI calls. She is currently task leader in the PNRR project “Age-It: Ageing Well in an Ageing Society” in which she is developing hybrid tools based on the combination of artificial intelligence and classical econometric models for the definition of a portfolio of personalised policies for older workers aimed at improving individual satisfaction while controlling overall expenditure. On this topic, she participated in two conferences where she presented preliminary results on the impact of socio-economic factors and institutional and context variables on both work-life balance and job and employment insecurity. She also organised a special track on ageing at the national AISRE 2024 conference. She currently is the scientific leader of the CNR-IRCrES Research Unit of two national PRINs (PRIN 2022 and PRIN 2022 PNRR), both related to the internationalization strategies of enterprises. She published her research in leading journals, including Expert Systems with Applications; European Journal of Operational Research; Health policy; Journal of policy modelling; Technological forecasting and social change; North American Journal of Economics and Finance; Business Strategy and the Environment; Tecnology Analysis and Strategic Management; International economics; and Socio-Economic Planning Sciences.
